Notice to Driving Schools Regarding
New 2nd Knowledge Test
Effective October 1, 2009 the DMV will begin administering
a “second” knowledge test to new driver license applicants.
Pursuant to Public Act 2009-187, all 16 and 17 year-old
applicants road tested on or after October 1, 2009 will be required to pass a
second knowledge test; this test will be known as the “Teen Final Exam”.
The Teen Final Exam will be administered at full service
DMV offices after the applicant passes the road test.
The Teen Final Exam:
- includes 25 questions, 20 must be answered correctly
to pass
- includes questions concerning teen passenger and
curfew restrictions
- will be given at full service DMV Branch Offices
- will only be given after a successful road test
Off-site applicants will continue to take the road test at
the driving schools. Two business days after the off-site road test, the
student can go to their assigned full service branch office to take and pass the
Teen Final Exam before the driver license is issued.
Off-site applicants may take the Teen Final Exam on a
walk-in basis at the branch office between the following hours:
Tuesday,
Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am-3:00 pm
Thursday
8:00am-4:30 pm
Saturday
8:00am-11:00 am
